The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Antique on October 30, 2024, at the UP Visayas New Admin Building Conference Room, via Zoom. At the same time, the UPV Regional Research Center (RRC) and the UA Integrated Research Centers (IRC) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for research and development, and capacity building activities under the Material Science and Nanotechnology (MSN) Laboratory. This upcoming activity aims to capacitate researchers on the basic operations and maintenance of the various equipment under the MSN Laboratory despite the lack of enough human resources. This activity is spearheaded by the UPV RRC MSN Laboratory and will be inviting Ms. Jessebel V. Gadot, then University Researcher I of the UPV RRC MSN Laboratory, and the current Faculty and Director of UA-IRC.
The virtual ceremony included Chancellor Clement C. Camposano (UPV), Dr. Mary Grace C. Sedanza (UPV RRC), Dr. Pablo S. Crespo, Jr. (UA), Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan (UA), Ms. Jessebel V. Gadot (UA-IRC), and personnel from both UPV and UA. Chancellor Camposano has expressed the essence of “mamurugto (umbilical cord)” which emphasizes the connection between both institutions in improving lives of communities through teaching, research, and public service and extension.
Dr. Crespo and Dr. Alentajan have expressed enthusiasm through the famous tagline in UA which is “bambuhay – bago, angat, at makabuluhang buhay” in terms of mutula commitment towards implementing various research collaboration in capacitates stakeholders. As Dr. Alentajan also emphasized that “UP is already in (Pandan) Antique, and now with University of Antique and Antiqueños.
