UPV graduate students boost financial literacy of SLP beneficiaries thru training

A total of forty-one beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) are trained on financial literacy through the conduct of Capacity Enhancement for the Beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development held at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Iloilo City Campus, GCEB Training Rooms 1 and 2, August 15, 2023. 

Ms. Sheena Marie Brey-Panado, UPV-CM Accounting instructor, served as Resource Person and discussed Financial Literacy, while Ms. Ancristyn J. Casaquite, Implementing Project Development Officer of DSWD, discussed the By-Laws of SLP. The activity aims to educate the SLP beneficiaries on financial literacy to enhance their knowledge on financial management. The training further intends to equip the beneficiaries with substantial learnings on small-scale business management, as they will be awarded by DSWD with a one-time financial capital for the establishment of a micro-enterprise.

The conduct of the activity, which was facilitated by the UPV Master of Management-Public Management (MMPM) students, is one of the class requirements of the MGT 243: Program Development and Management under Assistant Professor Ma. Rhona P. Beriales. The course is designed to allow the students to contribute to the advancement of community development. Thus, championing the mandate of UP to be of service to the Filipino people.
