UPV grads present papers at the 11th Ateneo Center for Asian Studies International Conference on Asian Studies

Five graduates of the University of the Philippines Visayas presented their public health and psychology research papers at the 11th Ateneo Center for Asian Studies International Conference on Asian Studies (ACAS ICAS) on Friday, November 18, 2022. 

Franco Miguel M. Nodado, a BS in Public Health graduate, presented his study “Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) Indicators in Miagao, Iloilo and Sibunag, Guimaras.”

Zennia Grace S. Guadaña and Cherie Izzy A. Azarcon, BA in Psychology graduates, presented their study titled “Performativity and Subjectivities: A Foucauldian Discourse Analysis of pasaway in COVID-19 pandemic.”

Jhio Jan Navarro and Khent Adenix, also BA in Psychology graduates, presented their study titled “Social Representations of COVID-19 Vaccines Among Working-age Eligible Recipients.”

The 11th International Conference on Asian Studies was conducted virtually and on-site at the Ateneo de Manila University from November 17-18, 2022. 

This year’s ACAS ICAS, with the theme “The Socioeconomic Landscape in Asia After the Pandemic: Scenarios and Implications to Development,” focused its discussion on the consequences of the pandemic to various areas of development in Asia.

The conference invited research and conceptual works from a broad range of disciplines encompassing the social sciences, biological and physical sciences, arts and culture and the humanities, as well as management and business.

Presenters came from around the world, with 2006 Nobel Laureate Professor Mummahad Yunus giving the closing keynote presentation for the conference. (Sources: Division of Biological Sciences, Division of Social Sciences)
