The University of the Philippines Visayas has been given the Certificate of Authority by the Commission on Higher Education to reopen the campus for the conduct of limited face-to-face classes.
The Certificate of Authority was granted to the university after it had complied with the requirements of CHED and the Department of Health under joint Memorandum Circular No. 2021-001, effective April 28, 2022, until April 27, 2023.
Limited face-to-face classes were granted for BA in Communication and Media Studies, Broadcast Communication, Community Development, History, Literature, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Communication Arts. The same authority also applies to BS in Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Public Health, Statistics, Fisheries, Accountancy, Business Administration (Marketing), Management, Chemical Engineering, and Food Technology.
Postgraduate degrees are also covered by the CHED authority. These courses include a Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, Master of Chemistry, Master of Education major in Biology, English as a Second Language, Filipino, Mathematics, Physics, Reading, and Social Studies. It also applies to Master of Science (Biology), Master of Management major in Business Management, Public Management, Master of Aquaculture, Master of Marine Affairs, Master of Science in Fisheries major in Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Biology, and Master of Science in Ocean Sciences. Other post-graduate courses include the Professional Master Program in Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management and Doctor of Philosophy in Fisheries (Aquaculture).
Early last year, UPV has been preparing to return to face-to-face classes by creating a committee to prepare for the reopening of the university.
Classes in UPV will start on September 5, 2022, and will end on June 8, 2023.
