Team Fifth of Ace of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) attended the DOST-PCIEERD 6th Young Innovators Program Forum and Memorandum of Agreement Signing at the Philippine International Convention Center, PICC Forum Tent, Pasay City on October 27, 2023.
The team from UPHSI composed of Abbie Jessica Leigh, Aisha Yaelle Homeres, Antoine Kaiser Demontaño, Arwen Jayne Deriada, and Caiden Ramirez, witnessed the MOA signing of their mentor, Prof. Raphael Belleza, and DOST officials. The team received a grant of P355,600.00 for the conduct of the project “Cresunscreen: Formulation of the Calabash (Crescentia cujete) Methanolic Extract as a Sunscreen Cream.”
The Forum and MOA signing event was part of the National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF), which also featured science and technology competitions, exhibits, forums, seminars, technology demonstrations, and workshops, among other activities.
The UPHSI team is the only group from the Visayas to receive the grant, along with eight other groups from different schools around the country. They will start working on the project before end of 2023.
