The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) is now ready to accept student-interns from the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) after both parties inked the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the latter’s Student Internship Program (SIP) on September 21.
Through the partnership, ISAT U student-interns are expected to be exposed to actual scenarios and office situations under simulated employment conditions for a given period.
A student of ISAT U’s Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics Technology program will be the first to benefit from the partnership.
The student will undergo an internship with UPV’s Campus Maintenance and Development Office (CDMO) from August 2023 to May 2024. Under their program’s curriculum, the students are taught the intricacies of Electronics Home and office appliances.
ISAT U is a university that offers technical courses and its students are required to undergo SIP as an academic requirement before graduation and to expose them to actual industrial work situations.
The MOA is in line with the thrust of UP under President Angelo Jimenez to carry out its mission to serve the Philippines by “sharing knowledge and resources” with other state universities and colleges (SUCs).
Chancellor Clement Camposano represented UPV at the MOA signing held at the New Administration Building Conference Room, Miagao campus. Meanwhile, Dr. Ramon Emmanuel, Jr., ISAT U Miagao Campus Administrator, represented ISAT U on behalf of President Gabriel Salistre, Jr.
Present to witness the signing between both parties were Vice Chancellor for Administration John Lorenz Belanio and ISAT U Miagao SIP Supervisor Marlon Peregrino. CDMO Chief Mario Morano was also in attendance. (With sources from OVCA)
