UP alumni assist high school students choose college course

Hundreds of students from UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) gathered last March 16, 2019 at the UPV Graduate and Continuing Education Building for Career Talk 2019. The University of the Philippines Visayas Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) organized the event as a way to prepare the students in choosing their college degrees with the help of UP alumni.

In the morning, UP alumni shared insights on their experiences from their respective colleges and possible career opportunities. Speakers include Atty. Ian Thomas Besana of the College of Management, Ms. Jessica Esmao of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Mr. Kent Michael Solacito of the College of Art and Sciences and Ms. Ma. Teresa Alarcon of the School of Technology.

In the afternoon, UP alumni shared their experiences from their respective undergraduate courses and in their fields of career. Speakers include Engr. Juniper Magallanes for chemical engineering, Atty. Ma. Ailyne Valaquio for law, Dr. Rey Mollenido for medicine, Mr. Nony Basco for broadcast communication, and Ms. Menchie Lacao for accounting.

In the end, the students expressed appreciation for a very insightful and fun day. Dr. Agustin Huyong and Prof. Benmar Panaguiton, directors of OSA and OAR, respectively, both delivered messages for the students.
