OVCA holds dialogue with UPV offices to update trike policies

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration (OVCA) held a dialogue with representatives of various University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas offices based in the Miagao campus regarding policies with its partner tricycle drivers association.

UPV is currently in the process of finalizing the amendments to fare and traffic guidelines within the Miagao campus with the Bolho, Sapa, UPV Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (BSUTODA).

Pertinent matters on fare, routes, and pickup/drop-off points in various areas in the University were discussed by Vice Chancellor for Administration John Lorenz Belanio with the attendees on Oct. 12 at the New Admin Building Conference Room.

The attendees raised their concerns on fair implementation of tricycle rates, traffic flow, and road safety within the campus. These concerns will be discussed by the OVCA with BSUTODA.

The OVCA, along with its sub-offices and units, has previously consulted other members of the UPV community, including the UPV University Student Council (UPV USC) and BSUTODA.

According to Belanio, the agreement between UPV and BSUTODA was signed in 2012 and amended in 2018. The updated version of the agreement will be implemented within the year.

During the dialogue, Belanio also discussed initial details on four-wheeled vehicles as transportation augmentation within the campus, particularly for the School of Technology (SoTech) and Regional Research Center (RRC) areas.
