Asst. Prof. Joven S. Llabore, a faculty member of UP High School in Iloilo, Division of Professional Education, College of Arts and Sciences spearheaded two impactful teacher training sessions held at Salem Christian Life Center on June 22 and August 23, 2024. The training aimed to equip educators with innovative teaching strategies and enhance their classroom management and storytelling skills.
During the first session on June 22, Llabore introduced participants to Blooket, an AI-powered tool designed to engage Generation Z and Generation Alpha students. Recognizing the unique learning needs of these generations, Llabore emphasized the importance of integrating technology into lesson delivery. He also introduced the Present-Practice-Produce (PPP) lesson framework, guiding teachers on how to structure their lessons effectively, from presenting new content to allowing students to practice and eventually produce their own understanding.
The second session on August 23 focused on storytelling and classroom management. Prof. Llabore trained teachers in various storytelling techniques, such as read-aloud and think-aloud strategies, to captivate students' attention and foster a love for learning. Additionally, he shared practical classroom management skills to help teachers create a positive and orderly learning environment.
The training sessions were well-received, with participants expressing enthusiasm for the new strategies and tools introduced. Llabore's dedication to professional development and his commitment to improving the quality of education through innovative approaches were evident throughout the sessions.
