Lim-Jardeleza families turn over 7 adopted rooms to UPHSI

The Lim and Jardeleza families, through retired Assoc. Justice Francis Jardeleza, turned over seven adopted rooms to the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) during a ceremony held at the UP Visayas Iloilo City campus on Jan. 25.

The adopted rooms include four regular classrooms, a dance studio, and student offices of the UPHSI Student Council and Kasanag, the official student publication of UPHSI. This was made possible through the Adopt-A-Room project.

The renovation of the rooms, which includes the installation of air-conditioning units, started in November last year.

Jardeleza, a UPHSI alumnus, said he is delighted to turn over the adopted rooms which will serve “not just as physical spaces with furnished walls, but as vessels of service, excellence, integrity, nationalism, and environmental stewardship.”

“May these classrooms stand as a testament to the enduring bond between UPHSI and my family,” said Jardeleza, adding “May this be a reminder that we [are] forever [linked] by the shared belief for honor and excellence.”

For her part, UPHSI Principal Edelia Braga expressed her gratitude to the Lim and Jardeleza families.

“You have given UPHSI new dreams to pursue, new models to emulate, and new opportunities to claim,” she told the donors who attended the ceremony.

“Thanks to your vision for UPHSI and the magnanimous support, the humble grounds of our high school have undergone this remarkable transformation,” the principal added.

Representatives from the UPHSI Student Council and Kasanag also echoed the same sentiments on behalf of the grantees.

Former UPV chancellors, current UPV officials and deans, faculty, and staff of UPHSI and UPV attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Jardeleza mentioned a series of Handumanan projects that are lined up for UPHSI.

These include Pag-ulikid (scholarship); Padayon, UP High: 77 Glorious Years of UP High School in Iloilo (coffee table book); Graciano Lopez Jaena Biography Project; and the UPV High School Annual Giving Fundraising.
