Iloilo City Committee on Transportation to partner with UPV, PSTMO for traffic, road rules workshop-dialogue

The Iloilo City Committee on Transportation will partner with the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the Iloilo City Government – Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) for a workshop-dialogue on traffic and road rules to be launched on Feb. 28.

According to Iloilo City Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna, Chairman of the Committee on Transportation, the group will go to schools and communities to talk with student leaders, starting with the Iloilo City National High School in Molo district.

In a media interview, Cabaluna said the initiative, “Sa Lugar Lang: Building the Ilonggo Culture of Road Courtesy and Discipline,” aims to build a culture and improve behavior on the road. “We are here to identify proper attitudes, behaviors, [and] responsibility,” he said.

The councilor said the inputs from the initiative will be considered along with those of drivers, traffic enforcers, and public and private vehicle owners.

He hopes the initiative can supplement Iloilo City’s efforts with policies and infrastructure.

To recall, UPV collaborated with the Committee on Transportation and PSTMO with their respective activities, the first ever Iloilo City Transport Summit and the Traffic Academy, last year. (With reports from Bombo Radyo Iloilo)
