GDP, Ugsad open Women’s Month Bazaar at UPV Miagao campus

The University of the Philippines Visayas Gender and Development Program (UPV-GDP) and the Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Center Western Visayas opened the Women’s Month Bazaar at the Administration Building grounds, UPV Miagao campus, on March 20, as part of the series of activities for this year’s Women’s Month celebration.

Ten exhibitors are selling pre-loved items, fashion accessories, ornamental plants, food, and drinks, among others, from March 20-22.

Prior to the opening of the bazaar, a short program was conducted by the organizers. GDP Director Ysabella Cainglet and Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Harold Monteclaro gave their messages aligned with the Women’s Month celebration theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.”

GDP gave out prizes during the “Paindis-indis” portion of the program where participants answered questions about the celebration, including influential women figures of the country.

The program ended with the participants dancing to the tune of “Isang Bilyong Babae ang Babangon,” the theme of One Billion Rising, a campaign to end violence against women.

The children from the GDP Balay-Balay Child Minding Center also took part in the program.

GDP and Ugsad will likewise have a Women’s Month Bazaar at the UPV Iloilo City campus from March 22-24. (With sources from GDP and Mr. Enrique Legaspi III)
