As a part of the 2023 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week Celebration, several professors and staff from the University of the Philippines Visayas School of Technology (UPV SOTECH) participated and got certified for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Course held on November 25-26, 2023, at the Iloilo Convention Center and Department of Science and Technology VI, La Paz, Iloilo City.
The participants who successfully passed the certification test were SOTECH’s very own Dr. Johannes Magpusao, Ms. Johanna Jamero, Ms. Mary Denize Celine Portal, PFT, and Mr. John Ray Molavin, PFT, a research assistant at the college.
Accredited by the National Restaurant Association and the American National Standards Institute, ServSafe® is a recognized food safety training and certification program worldwide. It underscores the significance of food safety, with an emphasis on allergens and cross-contamination, as well as the best ways to prepare food, cleaning and sanitizing techniques, storage methods, and proper ways of cooking, including the right amount of time and temperature. This five-year certificate is also recognized by the American National Accreditation Board (ANAB)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP).
