CFOS-led team is Pasundayag 2019 champ

The team led by the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) won First Place in the recent Pasundayag contest, the first time in the competition history that was dominated by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

Pasundayag, a Bisaya term for stage presentation of songs dances, and other forms of expression, is one of the most-awaited events in celebration of the UP presence in Iloilo.

Considered to be the highlight of the celebration, the competition is participated in by the faculty and staff members of the University divided into five competing groups. Four groups are led by the four colleges in the University and one group from the central administration offices.

The concept for the Pasundayag varies yearly. Pasundayag 2019 revolved around the theme, “Baby boomer meets K-Pop.”

Eponymous to one of the famous K-Pop groups EXO, the CFOS-led team danced and warbled to the Korean-Chinese boy band’s moves and music including their fashion statements.

Clad in their K-Pop costumes, Team EXO also showed how popular K-Pop is among the Filipino youth who can’t stop loving them and are always looking forward to their fan meetings and concerts.

Led by CFOS dean Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, the Pasundayag 2019 champ is composed of performers from the CFOS, National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, UPV Museum of Natural Sciences, Teaching and Learning Resource Center, Office of Student Affairs, and the Library group based in Miagao.

Team Momoland came second spearheaded by the School of Technology. It was also composed of the unit heads and staff of the Campus Maintenance and Development Office, Data Information System Program, Dormitories, Health Services Unit, UPV Site, Acquisition and Resettlement Project, UPV Reforestation Project, and UPV Security Service Force.

Presenting Team Black Pink, the Central Administration Offices got the third spot.

The CAS Team Seventeen composed of its divisions, departments (including the UP High School in Iloilo), Center for West Visayan Studies, Community Outreach Program and Language Program, placed fourth.
