The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences developed unified action plans and activities for the implementation of the BS Fisheries (BSF) program for the next five years following the granting of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (UAN-QA) certification.
Faculty members, REPS, administrative staff, and student leaders of various student organizations of the College gathered and assessed the final report of the AUN-QA external assessors on the BSF at the Pidlaoan Hall, CFOS, UP Visayas Miagao campus on August 16, 2023.
Led by CFOS dean Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, the CFOS constituents reviewed the results and feedback of the assessment and identified plans and activities that will guide the College in revising the BSF program.
“The activity is deemed necessary before the College embarks on the evaluation or revision of the BSF program that is expected to be done this year or five years following its implementation. This activity is also one of the academic support initiatives of the College to ensure continued quality assurance in the University,” Yap said.
The discussions focused on the areas for improvement on the program’s expected learning outcomes, programme structure and content, teaching and learning approach, student assessment, academic staff, student support services, facilities and infrastructure, outputs and outcomes.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mae Grace G. Nillos, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liah C. Catedrilla, Asst. Prof. Dr. Iris Ann G. Borlongan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Cherry P. Añasco facilitated the whole day activity.
The CFOS intends to carry out the identified priorities in the current or subsequent academic year.
The BSF program underwent an extensive five-day AUN-QA programme assessment process last November 21-25, 2022.
