The Deed of Donation for an additional 386 sq. m. to be added to the UP Visayas Extension Campus in Antique was signed at UP Visayas Iloilo City campus on November 29, 2021.
The donors of the lot, Ms. Yolanda Bautista-Batara, Mr. Romeo T. Ordinario, and Ms. Daughlet Bautista-Ordinario, came all the way from Pandan, Antique to finalize their commitment of adding an additional 386 sq. m. to their earlier donation of 500 sq. m. for the lot where the UP Visayas Extension Campus will be built.
Chancellor Clement Camposano signed as a witness to the donation. This will be sent to UP Diliman for UP President Danilo Concepcion to sign. Camposano thanked the family for their generous donation and their noble intention, which will undoubtedly impact the lives of students in Antique and the nearby province of Aklan.
Ms. Daughlet Bautista-Ordinario and Ms. Yolanda Bautista-Batara detailed how they came to purchase and own those properties without a definite plan for their use. After many years, they learned that UP needed land in order to build the Antique campus. Without hesitation, they initially gave 500 sq. m. in 2019. Upon meeting Chancellor Camposano on October 27, 2021, they offered the additional 386 sq. m., thus, expressed their intention to donate the whole 886 sq. m. property to the University of the Philippines.
Former Senator and now Deputy Speaker and Congresswoman of Antique Loren Legarda initiated the project with an allocation of P50M for the 2019 GAA for the building and another P20M for the PS and MOOE.
Attending the event were Ms. Gigi Bautista-Dioso, Ms. Yolanda Bautista-Batara, Mr. Romeo T. Ordinario, and Ms. Daughlet Bautista-Ordinario, as well as Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Rhodella Ibabao, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Philip Ian Padilla, Director of the Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts Martin Genodepa, Director of the Information and Publications Office Julie Prescott, and UPV Special Asst. for Antique, Anna Razel Ramirez, Atty. Chad Iquiña of the UPV Legal Office and Planning Officer Leilanie Geduspan, among others.
