To greatly reduce the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus and control its spread, the wearing of face masks or similar health protection paraphernalia shall be strictly enforced effective immediately in all UP Visayas campuses - Miagao, Iloilo City, and Tacloban City.
This directive is line with health and safety measures imposed by the local as well as the national government during this public health emergency.
Studies have shown that the COVID-19 virus lives in the air as vital aerosol for three hours or more.
Students, personnel, and families of personnel who live in the campus are requested to follow this protocol when reporting for duty or when going out of dormitories or staff houses for any reason. Students who venture into the common areas of their dormitory shall also be required to wear one.
Aside from following other health safety protocols the university requires, visitors or non-UPV constituents, with business or professional transactions at the campus, shall be denied entry to the unless they wear a face mask.
Civil Service Commission sanctions shall apply to UPV personnel who disregard this protocol.
Local government sanctions and penalties shall apply to students, UPV visitors, family members of UPV personnel and other UPV personnel not covered by CSC sanctions.
All violators shall be warned and reminded of this directive when caught for the first time. Appropriate UPV or local government authority shall be informed of succeeding offenses for proper action.
This arrangement, unless revised, shall be in effect until the Enhanced Community Quarantine is lifted.
Please take note of the sanctions indicated by the CSC and the Iloilo Province’s Face Mask Ordinance as well as those stipulated in RA 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Concern Act) included here.
