Reminders on preparations for returning home at the end of the Second Semester

In view of the UPV Chancellor's memorandum on the return of students stranded at UPV dormitories or private boarding houses, in Miagao or Iloilo City, to their respective permanent residences at the end of the Second Semester on April 30, 2020, students are reminded of their responsibilities to effect a smooth and orderly travel:

1. Students shall be responsible for planning and preparing their travel arrangements (purchasing or rebooking tickets, etc).

2. Students shall be responsible for coordinating with their parents or guardians on the specific requirements of their localities (provincial, city, municipality, barangay) regarding the re-entry of residents who wish to go home from other parts of the country. Contact the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) - email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - for assistance regarding meeting the requirements like health certificates etc.

3. Students living at the UPV dormitories shall accomplish an undertaking provided by the University through OSA.

The University is endeavoring to provide transportation and coordinating with appropriate government  entities for students living within Panay Island. However, this initiative does not exempt them from making their personal travel arrangements.

For students travelling to other parts of the country by boat or plane, assistance for local transportation from Miagao to the airport or wharf is being considered.  Coordination with government entities regarding border restrictions and mobility is also being done. An update on these initiatives shall be relayed soon.

Should COVID-19 testing be mandatory for returning to their respective localities, UPV shall assist students in complying with such requirement, three days prior to their definite departure date.

With the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in various parts of the country, including Iloilo, until May 15, the tentative date of the first wave of departures shall be on May 16. However if conditions allow, it may start even before the said date.

Please be guided accordingly.
