The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), in partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Economics (ICE), hosted a forum titled Quantum Technology: Unlocking the Future of Computing, Communication, and Sensing to Address Intractable Problems on March 27 at the UPV Little Theater, Iloilo City Campus.

The Office of Student Affairs, through the Guidance and Counseling Services Unit, and in collaboration with the UPHSI Junior Peer Facilitators, successfully hosted its annual View of Careers event with the theme “Today’s Choices, Tomorrow’s Success.” Designed to help students prepare for college and their future careers, the event featured insightful discussions on college readiness, degree programs, and inspiring success stories from alumni.

Prof. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), was one of the invited speakers of the 14th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum (14AFAF) held at New Delhi, India from 12-15 February 2025, with the theme, ‘Greening the Blue Growth in Asia-Pacific.’ The forum was co-organized by the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, and The Asian Fisheries Society Indian Branch (AFSIB).

Two BS in Accountancy students from the UPV College of Management were recognized during the 26th Search for Outstanding Accountancy Students of the Philippines (SOASP). Ms. Keren Kathe Jocson Jacomilla and Mr. Christian Luwin Noveros Nadanga received their awards as part of the SOASP’s Top 25 National Finalists at the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City last March 21, 2025.

Dr. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and Executive Director of the National Consortium for Small-Scale Fisheries Research and Development or Too-Big-To-Ignore (TBTI) Philippines based at UPV, was one of the invited panelists of the Honiara Summit on the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14.4 in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from 24-27 February 2025. The summit was organized by the Government of the Solomon Islands and the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), in close collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean.
