The National Innovation Council (NIC) visited the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Miagao campus for the stakeholders’ consultation meeting for the project “Mapping and Assessment of Government-Funded Innovation Infrastructure,” on Oct. 9, 2024.
The UPV Center for West Visayan Studies in collaboration with the Division of Social Sciences held a public lecture by Mr. Francisco Gonzalo "Frank" Villanueva titled "Why Hispanic Culture Matters: Saving our Hispano-Filipino Heritage" at the UPV Little Theater, Iloilo City campus. Mr. Villanueva is a well-traveled independent researcher and historian whose works include a revisiting of sources on historical figures such as Juan Luna and Iloilo's very own Graciano Lopez Jaena.
The University of the Philippines Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences through the Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology (UPV-CFOS-IMFO), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) conducted the 9th Essential Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Training on September 30 to October 3, 2024 at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Iloilo City.

The University of the Philippines Visayas – Center for West Visayan Studies in partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines – Iloilo brought to UPV Antique Extension Campus in Nauring, Pandan, Antique the Pambasang Museo sa Barangay (PMB) that runs from October 7-11, 2024. The PMB project is an initiative of NMP - Iloilo that aims to bring museum experience to communities. Local partners for this project in Pandan are the DepEd Schools Division of Antique - District of Pandan, the Local Government Unit of Pandan, and the Philippine Initiative for the Conservation of the Environment and the People (PHILINCON).
