Required Competencies:
- With a background in molecular biology and/or bioinformatics (related to fisheries and aquatic science or medical research)
- Experience in implementing DOST-funded projects
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- With a basic understanding of adherence to ethical and moral principles, values, and standards of public office per RA 6713 and other relevant laws in the civil service
- Has the ability to work cooperatively with other members of the team
Job Summary:
The UR I will implement research and ensure the delivery of Omics Laboratory services by managing laboratory personnel and procuring materials and reagents.
Job description:
- The person will oversee overall operations and quality assurance of laboratory services under PGC Visayas.
- S/he will manage the list of services offered by PGC Visayas (use of equipment, direct services, training) in relation to methodologies, costing, and other related activities.
- S/he will prepare and write operation and user manuals; attend project meetings; prepare reports and presentations and answer and manage clients' inquiries on services;
- Assist the Program Director in coordinating with RRC personnel and management on multidisciplinary projects that will require the use of facilities in different labs;
- Propose and implement independent research projects (as project leader) or participate as project staff (externally funded);
- Coordinate with various research projects on the use of equipment or services offered by PGC Visayas;
- Take charge of management and procurement matters;
- Prepare, monitor, refine, and assure laboratory and office practices for maintenance and compliance with industry standards;
- Develop recommendations for improvement of laboratory practices, procedures, or research programs.
- Perform other related tasks

- Certificate of employment issued by HRMO or authorized official (only for work experience relevant to the job);
- Certification of public service rendered (training program, technical assistance and advisory, information services, community outreach services, innovations and technology transfer service and direct extensions services).
