MEMORANDUM NO. RPB 2020-05-055
TO: All Concerned Students
In view of the closing of the Second Semester AY 2019-2020 last April 30, 2020, students are expected to prepare for their going home starting Monday, May 4, 2020.
The going home procedures will follow the following steps:
1) Students who wish to go home should fill up the attached Request for Assistance Form and submit it to OSA by May 5.
2) Students should make contact and necessary arrangements with their parents/guardians on their plans for going home and should discuss with them how to comply with the LGU’s entry quarantine protocols and requirements.
3) Students should simultaneously secure their medical certificates from UPV HSU and the corresponding LGU quarantine passes, 7 days before their planned departure.
*The 2 documents needed at the border control gates for the students to pass through are:
a) the medical certificate from the UPV HSU; and,
b) the quarantine pass issued by the town where he/she came from.
Please take note that a mandated 14 day quarantine at the designated LGU quarantine center is required in every border control gate of the receiving/destination town.
4) UPV will schedule transportation services from UPV Miagao/Iloilo City Campuses to the seaport or airport terminal once all the documentary requirements are complied with and the LGU Entry permits are secured by the students.
5) Transportation fares for sea and air travels will be borne by the students.
6) During travel and for safety students should bring their masks and wear them in all public places in every instance. Social distancing should be observed at all times and personal disinfectants and sanitation packs should be carried by the students at all times.
During this preparation period, UPV shall provide food subsidy in the form of daily meal vouchers to be used at the UPVEC cafeteria for all students in the dormitories until May 15, 2020 only. Meal vouchers are with the dormitory managers for those who want to avail of them. The food subsidy has been arranged with the UPVEC credit facility and which the university will shoulder for the students. The present meal subsidy arrangement has been set up with the UPVEC credit facility for which the university will pay using the remaining funds solicited through donations.
Students living in Balay Ilonggo shall be allowed to continue to cook their meals in the dormitory kitchen. In-kind needs of all other students stranded in boarding houses in Miagao and Iloilo City shall also be assessed and considered based on available funds.
With the budget cut directives from the national government, the university shall waive lodging fees only up to May 15. After this date, only Balay Apitong will remain open to serve graduating students. All other dormitories shall be disinfected and prepared for the next school year.
