The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) held a meeting with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Regional Office 6 to discuss the Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) for UPV’s major infrastructure projects funded through the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and to be located on two of its campuses.
The MOAs will be based on the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-DPWH Joint Memorandum Circular of 2024-01.
UP Vice President for Development Daniel Peckley, Jr. and Chancellor Clement Camposano led the group that met with the concerned DPWH-6 officials led by Regional Director Sanny Boy Oropel on April 1, 2024, at the OICA Conference Room, Iloilo City campus. The MOA shall lay out the responsibilities of the two parties in the partnership.
UPV’s major projects include the construction of the new College of Law Building (P100M), the expansion and operationalization of the UPV Extension Campus in Antique (P30M), the construction of a multi-purpose building (P20.5M), and the renovation of the Old High School Building (P10M).
The said projects are to be implemented in the Iloilo City campus, except for the project in the UPV Antique campus in Pandan town.
Present at the meeting were Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Rhodella Ibabao, Atty. Andre Palacios of the UP College of Law, Atty. Nellie Regalado of the UPV Office of the Legal Services, Vice Chancellor for Administration Farisal Ungkakay-Bagsit, Engr. Mario Morano of the Campus Development and Maintenance Office (CDMO), Engr. Ian Kaye Alejandrino of the UP Office of the Vice President for Development (OVPD), and concerned personnel of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development (OVCPD) and OVCA-CDMO.
Earlier that day, VPD Peckley and Engr. Alejandrino were oriented on the three projects in the Iloilo City campus by VCPD Ibabao.
To recall, the OVCPD and OVCA-CDMO attended a workshop for the drafting of the MOA between UP and the DPWH organized by the OVPD at UP Diliman on February 16, 2024. VCPD Ibabao and Engr. Morano attended the workshop together with the team of architects and engineers from the OVCPD and CDMO. (With sources from OVCPD)
