Position: University Research Associate I, SG 12-1 (UP Contractual)

CSC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree relevant to the job

Experience: None required

Training: None required

Eligibility: Career Service (Professional) / Second Level Eligibility

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to collect, organize, and interpret important historical art data
  • Ability to understand ideas within their context (historical, cultural, etc.)
  • Ability to understand, integrate, and properly acknowledge resources gleaned through various means - online, at the library, in archives, via interviews, etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-starter with time-management skills, and can work under pressure
  • Ability to write smoothly, correctly, and with proper sentence structure
  • Exceptional oral communication skills
  • Ability to create research findings in multiple formats, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, graphs, and standard written summaries
  • Willingness to work beyond regular hours, when needed

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Carry out background research on the University’s art collection and write articles for internal and external publications
  • Catalogue acquisitions, as well as maintain and update records and database of the University’s art collection
  • Conduct Prior Art Search
  • Collect, organize, analyze, interpret important art historical data, and record any findings in a manner pursuant to research protocol, which can be used by the University in pursuit of its mission to promote, preserve and nurture the Visayan cultural heritage
  • Facilitate easy access to the collection for research and publication
  • Handle inquiries from researchers and the public about the university's art collection
  • Assist the gallery curator by providing researched information on acquisitions, existing collections, and loans needed for exhibitions
  • Create research summaries in multiple formats, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, graphs and standard, written summaries
  • Handle necessary administrative paperwork and other documentation needed for project validation and research quality control
  • Manage the collection, in terms of storage, security, auditing, insurance, etc.
  • Perform other related tasks as may be assigned by the Director
