OSA holds workshop on institution of a Quality Assurance System

The Office of Student Affairs held a two-day seminar-workshop on the office's role in establishing a quality assurance system in UPV using the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). Prof. Steve P. Janagap, Chair of the UPV Academic Assessment and Development Committee, served as the speaker, while Ms. Roeyna May A. Famisaran acted as facilitator. The seminar was conducted last March 10 and 17, 2021, at the Audio-Visual Room of the Teaching and Learning Resource Center of the College of Arts and Sciences in UPV Miagao Campus. Attendee’s adhered to IATF protocols, while UPV Tacloban Campus joined through remote platforms.

Dr. Philip Ian P. Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, provided the rationale of the university’s direction towards quality assurance. He emphasizes that with the advent of the ASEAN Integration, the university is driven to define quality as a system that can be clearly defined. The UP system's goal is to provide stronger, more relevant, balanced, and internationally benchmarked academic programs through formalizing ‘System-wide Quality Assurance.’ The objective is to raise the University’s international quality standing to that of a renowned and globally competitive university.

The different units under OSA evaluated and reflected on their existing programs and plans using the AUN-QA criteria. These units include the Guidance and Counseling Services Unit; Socialized Tuition; Scholarships; Financial Assistance Unit; Student Organizations and Activities Units; Dormitory/Residence Services Unit; and Administrative Unit.

Headed by its director, Prof. Agustin G. Huyong, the Office of Student Affairs expresses its full support for the university’s endeavors in the service of the youth and nation-building.
