UP Visayas is partnering with the UP Los Baños Graduate School (UPLB-GS) and UP Manila National Graduate Office for the Health Sciences (NGOHS) for a Tri-campus Benchmarking on Graduate SchoolAcademic Policy and Operational Processes.
Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the UPV Graduate School, the in-person activity was held at the AVR, GCEB, UPV Iloilo City Campus on June 15-16, 2023.
The two-day benchmarking gave UPV the chance to look into the best practices of UPLB GS and UP NGOHS. These graduate entities showed distinct and interesting structures and approaches to managing their graduate programs. They provided valuable insights for UPV GS as it pursues its track.
Leading the presentations and discussions were UPV Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Phillip Ian Padilla, UPLB Dean of Graduate School, Dr. Jomar Rambajante; Director of NGOHS, Dr. Leslie Michelle Dalmacio and Dean of UPV Graduate School, Dr. Rowena Paz Gelvezon. The discussion included graduate structure, faculty profile, staffing pattern, support services, academic processes, and curricular proposals.
UPV GS recognizes the need to continually evaluate its operations and competitive position in the face of increasing competition, demand for accountability, and a changing macro environment. Benchmarking has been identified as a valuable management tool and ensure continual learning and improved efficiency among organizations.
The UPV Graduate School is conducting a benchmarking activity to assess the quality of its academic and operational processes and identify areas for improvement. This is also done to ensure continual learning and improved efficiency as this involves a systematic way of measuring and comparing its work processes with the those of others while at the same time bringing external perspectives.
