The UP High School in Iloilo highlighted the essence of togetherness and family in this year’s Paskua celebration and Lantern Parade held at the UPV Iloilo City Campus Grounds on December 19, 2023.
A thanksgiving mass was held in the morning, followed by the blessing of the Senior High School Building and classroom Christmas Parties. The afternoon program was composed of games, dance contests, yells and cheers and Christmas dinner with family members, who joined the students, faculty to share the spirit of the season.
In her message to the community, Prof. Edelia Braga, the UPHSi principal, emphasized the importance of family, whether by blood or affinity, “I want to emphasize the profound gift of family. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to overlook the importance of the people who stand by us through thick and thin. Our families are our greatest support systems, the ones who share in our successes and help us navigate the challenges that come our way. This holiday season, let us be grateful for the gift of family, for the laughter around the table, the warmth of a hug, and the love that binds us together.”
She also emphasized on gratitude, "a simple yet powerful emotion that often takes a back seat in our busy lives. As we gather here today, let's take a moment to express gratitude for the opportunities we've been given, the friendships we've formed, and the knowledge we've gained. Gratitude is a gift that multiplies when shared, so take a moment to thank those who have made a positive impact on your UPHSI journey – teachers, friends, mentors, and everyone who has contributed to your growth.”
Atty. Alma Kristina Amolar shared her wishes for the season to the rest of the attendees.
The students and their family members also joined the lantern parade, as they carried handheld lanterns to illuminate their way as they marched along Gen.Luna, Jalandoni, and Delgado Streets to bring the Christmas cheer.
