Last December 2024, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas launched the new polymer banknote series. Each polymer banknote denomination showcases the country’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. Additionally, the polymer series aims to raise awareness on the country’s endangered species like the Visayan Spotted Deer in the new 500-piso polymer banknote.

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) celebrated its 67th foundation anniversary, which highlighted a collective action in protecting the country’s natural aquatic resources.

The UP Hamili-Hamilia collaborated with the WVSU MAARAM Organization in conducting an art workshop for Ati children of the indigenous Ati Community in Brgy. Ipil Calinog Iloilo on February 22, 2025. The initiative is conducted in celebration of National Arts Month this February.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through the UP System, is now set to forge a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) under usufruct with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) for the establishment of the UPV-PCA Hybrid Coconut Seed Farm in UPV Miagao campus.
