Career Scientists from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas participated in the 18th Annual Meeting and Scientific Forum held at Vivere Hotel and Resorts, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City November 21-22, 2024.

The fourth-year BS in Management students of the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Management held the Strategic Management Summit 2024 with the theme, “Bata, Bata, Ika’y May Magagawa: Empowering the Role of the Youth in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management,” on November 27 at the UP Visayas Auditorium, Iloilo City campus.

Dr. Jose Neil M. Hortillo of the College of Management, UP Visayas made two paper presentations - “Determining the Investor Profile of Ilonggo Public Servants Using Transcendental Numbers” and “Examining Ethical Leadership and Organizational Ethics Among Public Servants in Iloilo City, Philippines,” in the recently concluded 2024 Joint Conference of the Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA), the Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration (EROPA), the Asian Group of Public Administration (AGPA) and the Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA).

The UP Visayas started to “Go Live” with the Budget Utilization and Liquidation System and Analytics (BULSA) on 02 December 2024. Meanwhile, the Personnel Unified System Outlook (PUSO) is scheduled to “Go Live” on 09 December 2024. This commences the utilization of these systems in some of the University’s personnel and financial processes which previously utilized the Human Resource and Finance Systems University Information System (UIS).

In the 7th National Food Quiz Bowl held in UP Los Baños, Laguna last November 16, 2024, Maybelle Capulot earned the top laurel in a pool of 43 participants from different PAFT chapters as she triumphed in the competition along with a participant from UP Mindanao. One contender from UP Diliman snatched the third rank while Amiguel Pamplona sealed the last spot and will join the four-man team that will represent the Philippines in the 2025 ASEAN Food Conference in Davao City in September next year. Each winner received a ₱2500 cash incentive, plaque, certificate, and free registration for the HEFTY Review Classes in 2025.
