UPV continues to facilitate in getting its stranded students home

UP Visayas has facilitated the safe return home of 13 students on May 22. The students who are residents of Passi City, Capiz, Aklan and Mindoro Oriental boarded the UPV bus at 6:10 AM. The bus had its final stop in Caticlan to enable Mindoro-bound students to get a boat from there enroute to their respective homes.

Prior to the latest send-off, the UPV administration particularly the Logistics Team of the UPV COVID-19 Task Force in coordination with the Office of Student Affairs, has been coordinating and making arrangements with various local and national government authorities to prepare and ensure a smooth and safe trip home for the students stranded in Iloilo City and Miagao due to the pandemic.

On March 21, UPV successfully sent home the first batch of students, numbering seven, from Iloilo province. The second batch, totaling 23 and residents of Negros Island left on May 5, 2020. On both occasions, the UPV bus was used to transport the students to their hometowns and to the RORO wharf in Dumangas town for those bound for Negros.
