Russian films shown in Iloilo

Ilonggos got a glimpse of Russian life as they watched three Russian films this week.
“Salyut 7”, “The Icebreaker” and the “Duelist” were shown to students, film enthusiasts and patrons of the arts on December 11, 2017 at the UP Visayas Cinemateque, Iloilo City.
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Philippines Igor Anatolyevich Khovaev came to introduce the films to promote Russian Culture and Arts to the Ilonggos. The activity is part the Russian Film Festival organized by the Embassy of Russian Federation.
In November, the ambassador proposed to Iloilo City mayor Jose Espinosa III the holding the festival in Iloilo as part of the trade, cultural and heritage exchanges between Iloilo City and the Russian Embassy.
UP Visayas Chancellor Ricardo Babaran and UPV Vice Chancellors Gay Defiesta, Mary Ann Gumban, Martin Genodepa and Rolly Fuentes received Khovaev.
Iloilo City Councilor Candice Tupaz also joined the film showing.
UPV Committee for Culture and the Arts hosted the film festival in cooperation with the Iloilo City Government.
