BS Economics graduates present research paper at EnerCon 2018
Jan Chael L. Pon-an and Ellen Grace F. Galaura, both Bachelor of Science in Economics graduates, presented a research paper during the 2nd International Conference on Energy Economics (EnerCon) on July 19-20, 2018 held at Acacia Hotel, Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Pon-an and Galaura, belonging to Class 2018 and both graduated with Latin Honors, presented their paper titled “Determinants of electricity expenditure among households in Miagao, Iloilo, Philippines” in a parallel session on Microeconomics of Electricity Consumption and Generation. They were also joined by their undergraduate research adviser, Prof. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, PhD.
The theme of EnerCon 2018 was “Energy and the environment: Challenges and opportunities amidst ASEAN integration towards inclusive growth." The conference aimed to gather stakeholders in the energy sector to contribute information concerning sustainable energy adoption and development in the Philippines and in ASEAN.
Some prominent speakers and guests present at the event were Hon. Cesar Enrique A. Virata (former Prime Minister), Hon. Sherwin T. Gatchalian (Senator), Hon. Vicente S. Perez, Jr. (former Energy Secretary), and Dr. Cielito Habito (former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary).
The two-day event was organized by the Department of Economics of the College of Economics and Management, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
