CFOS holds orientation for faculty members and REPS
To ensure that its faculty members and researchers are kept abreast with the policies, procedures, standards and programs governing all UP constituents, the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas conducted an orientation for all junior and newly-hired faculty members and REPS. The activity was held at the FC Conference Room, Umali Hall, CFOS, UPV Miagao campus on May 9, 2018.
The whole day orientation was divided into two sessions. In the morning, the faculty were introduced to the University Policies on Teaching Load and Load Credits by Prof. Nieves Toledo, CFOS’s College Secretary. Topics on the University policies and procedures on appointments, tenure and promotions, faculty rights, privileges and responsibilities were discussed by the Human Resource and Development Office Chief Ms. Ella Tidon and members of her staff, Ms. Ninfa Bauno and Ms. Jocelyn Barcelona.
The Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS) joined the faculty members in the afternoon session wherein they were informed about the Gender and Development Program (GDP) and Policies of UPV. Prof. Mary Barby Badayos-Jover, Director of the GDP Office was resource speaker for the said activity. The Anti-Sexual Harassment Code was presented by Prof. Josie Rojo, director of the Anti-Sexual Harassment (ASH) Office.
The forum is one of the activities that the College is working on in line with its Quality Assurance (QA) Program.
“We have to have a College which operations are in line with the specific quality policy because we are expected by the fisheries industry to produce quality graduates, quality researches and quality public service,” said Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, dean of the CFOS.
Yap announced several activities that the College will be conducting after this activity. These include the QA orientation for faculty administrators, faculty and REPS, and for non-academic personnel.
