DPSM conducts Seminar-Workshop on Nonparametric Statistics
The Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM), in collaboration with the College of Business Administration, Capiz State University (CapSu) - Burias Campus, conducted a seminar-workshop on Nonparametric Statistics on April 21, 2018 at Islands Hotel, Pueblo de Panay, Roxas City.
The seminar-workshop gathered 56 participants composed mainly of Master in Public Administration and Doctor of Public Administration students of CapSu. Ms. Raquel Daynolo, Statistics faculty of DPSM, served as the Resource Person of the seminar-workshop.
Dr. Victoria Garnace, facilitator for the Advanced Statistical Methods in Public Administration course, mentioned in her welcome address that the seminar-workshop is a good opportunity for the students to know more about the statistical tests that they can possibly use in conducting their theses or dissertations in the future.
Dr. Audie Belargo, a Doctor of Public Administration student, added that most students like him are more familiar with the parametric tests than their nonparametric counterparts. By attending the said seminar-workshop, they hoped to know the differences between the two common types of tests. They also hoped to learn at which situations such tests are more appropriate to use.
The seminar-workshop is a public service activity of DPSM, a unit under the College of Arts and Sciences, which offers three degree programs namely: BS in Applied Mathematics, BS in Computer Science, and BS in Statistics.
