Genodepa installation up for the day of hearts
In celebration of the February Arts Month, Prof. Martin Genodepa mounts an art installation titled My Broken Heart Meets Your Heart of Stone at the UP Visayas Museum of Natural Sciences Lobby.
The installation consisting of broken beer bottles and stones forming two hearts is Genodepa’s 16th solo exhibition.
The image of two hearts beside each other is iconic in visual depictions of relationships and personal unions especially of the romantic kind. Genodepa however is not concerned with ideal relations but of conflicted and complicated ones brought about by less ideal personal conditions of the parties attempting a union or affiliation.
Genodepa, who teaches in UP Visayas, is a stone sculptor primarily but has also been doing installation art for some time now.
My Broken Heart Meets Your Heart of Stone which runs until February 28 is UPV Art Gallery presentation under the Chancellor’s Committee on Culture and the Arts.
The UPV Museum of Natural Sciences is open weekdays from 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM and is located in UP Visayas Miagao campus. (CCCA)
