The UP Scientist Award is a program of the UP Scientific Productivity System (SPS) approved by the Board of Regents in August 2005. It was established because UP recognizes that advances in science and technology are achieved through scientific research and productivity and will make significant contribution to national development. The program is designed to encourage and reward scientific productivity among the UP constituency. Applicants undergo stringent criteria and evaluation process and those who qualify are given the rank of "UP Scientist" for three years with monetary remuneration.
UP Scientists can continue to maintain their standing provided they continue to meet the criteria for qualifying therein.
