UPV JPIA conquered the 13th Regional Mid-Year Convention
The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) of the UPV College of Management won most of the academic and non-academic competitions and was declared as the Over-All Champion of the 13th Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC).
Held from October 5 to 7, 2017 at various locations in Bacolod City, the event was the annual gathering of accountancy students organized by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NF-JPIA) Regional Chapter in partnership with some of the biggest public accounting firms in the country. It was participated in by over 400 delegates from nine colleges and universities.
In the Academic League of the RMYC, teams from UPV-JPIA composed mostly of 4th and 5th year BS in Accountancy students, won the following competitions: Champion, Auditing Quiz Bowl; 1st runner-up, Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting Quiz Bowl; 1st runner-up, Taxation Quiz Bowl; 1st runner-up, Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions Quiz Bowl; 1st runner-up, Management Advisory Services Quiz Bowl; 1st runner-up, “Attest” (Extemporaneous Speaking); 2nd runner-up, Financial Accounting & Reporting Quiz Bowl. In the Non-Academic League, the following events were won by UPV-JPIA: Champion, Digital Slogan-Poster Making; Champion, Creative Photography; 1st runner-up, Lip Sync Battle; 1st runner-up, JPIAN Video Contest; 1st runner-up, Essay Writing; 2nd runner-up, Fashion House Competition; 2nd runner-up, Best Dance Crew ft. Duo; 2nd runner-up, Speak Up!
One of the highlights of the Convention was the Search for Mr. and Ms. Ambassadors of Goodwill 2017. Ms. Anne B. Palacio, 4th year BSA student, won the title as Ambassadress of Goodwill 2017, while her partner Mr. Austinn Nathaniel Toledo, 5th year BSA student, garnered 1st runner-up.
