The University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) has secured a back-to-back win in the Visayas hub of the National Accounting Quiz Showdown (NAQDOWN) held on July 16, 2017 at the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City. The NAQDOWN is an annual nationwide inter-school academic quiz bee competition held simultaneously in four hubs across the country - namely NCR, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Incoming fifth year BS Accountancy (BSA) student of the Division Management, Kim D. Limosnero, accompanied by his adviser Mr. Carlo Angelo T. Negado, bested 35 other participants from Accountancy schools across the Visayas Region. Coming in second and third places were Jana Kryzyl B. Dibdib of the USC and Princess O. Gumanit of the University of San Jose – Recoletos (USJR), respectively.
Alexis Eugene Castor, a magna cum laude BSA graduate from the UPVTC Class of 2017, won in the same competition last year.
For bagging the top spot in the Visayas hub, Limosnero won a cash prize amounting to P2,000, as well as a medal and a certificate. He will also join the Top 5 participants from the other hubs in the upcoming NAQDOWN final round that will be held in Ilocos Norte in October.
Up for grabs in the final round are cash prizes amounting to P20,000 for the champion, P15,000 for the first runner-up, and P10,000 for the second runner-up.
Now on its 10th year, the NAQDOWN is organized by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) in collaboration with Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and SGV & Co. as part of the celebration of the Philippine National Accountancy Week.
