UPV conducts Quality Assurance W/F on Academic Programs
The University of the Philippines Visayas conducted a Workshop-Forum on Quality Assurance (QA) for UPV Academic Programs on May 29-30, 2017 at the GCEB Training Rooms, UP Visayas, Iloilo City campus.
Dr. Philip Ian S. Padilla, former Faculty Regent, delivered Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions. This preceded the forum on Stakeholder’s Expectations and Experiences moderated by Prof. Ma. Elisa Baliao. Resource Persons invited for the forum were the following: 1) Ms. Marie Pearl Marjorie Doronila, HR Recruitment Specialist, Reed Elsevier Philippines; 2) Dr. Amado Saquido, Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Asia and the Pacific; 3) Engr. Neil Ravena, Iloilo Government; 4) Mr. John Marlou Salido, Chairman, College of Management Student Council; 5) Prof. Severa Katalbas, Associate Dean, UPV College of Arts and Sciences; 6) Dr. Gail Tan-Ilagan, Professor of Psychology, Ateneo de Davao University; and 7) Mr. Robert Sason, Entrepreneur and UPV Alumnus.
Workshop on the Expected Learning Outcomes (ELO) was facilitated by Dr. Aurora Fe Bautista, former faculty member of UP Visayas and the UP Open University.
The UP High School in Iloilo Experience on the K-12 Program was given by Dr. Lourdes Zamora, UPHSI Principal. It was followed by a plenary discussion on the Proposed Curricular Changes during the K-to-12 Transition and Consolidation of Service Courses in UPV Academic Programs.
The workshop was organized in response to the aim of the university to develop excellent academic programs on a par with national and international standards. During the period of K-12 Transition and ASEAN Integration, UPV has embarked on a massive review, updating, and improvement of academic content of all its courses and curricular programs in relation to UPV’s niche and national priorities.
Activities during the workshop/forum were all geared towards facilitating the ongoing curricular revisions and updating of UPV’s academic programs. It was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Committee on Quality Assurance under the Vice Chancellor Emilia S. Yap.
