BS Food Tech Alumna shines in Canada
Marie Chona Rosali – Villanueva, an alumna of the UP Visayas School of Technology (BS Food Technology, 1997) was awarded District Specialist of the Year – in Central Canada by Steritech on March 14, 2017.
Steritech is a company that provides food safety and operational assessments in restaurants, groceries and supermarkets, convenience stores, hotel and lodgings, and retail stores. It conducts more than 200,000 assessments annually not just for customer satisfaction but to enhance customer experience. Considered as a market and industry leader for nearly 30 years, it pioneers and provides innovative solutions that mitigate risk and drive growth.
Villanueva was an instructor at the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (now Iloilo Science and Technology University) for 11 years before migrating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2009.
Seeing the need to improve her credentials, she acquired a Diploma in Culinary Management at George Brown College, Toronto and graduated with honors. While studying and right after graduation, she worked in various restaurants in downtown Toronto as grade mange, line cook and pastry chef.
In 2014, she was hired as a Quality Management Specialist in The Steritech Group. Her work entails providing an objective but positive experience, while educating an assessment team on the “how and ‘why’ behind the standards that were put in place in various locations. At the end of an assessment, the team highlights what were accomplished well and areas that needs room for improvement. This gives giving the locations the real-time knowledge and insight on what they need to improve on.
According to Doug Sutton, President, Brand Standards Steritech, “the recognition as District Specialist of the Year is earned by delivering a combination of outstanding productivity, consistently excellent service delivery defined and measured as The Ultimate Steritech Experience.” The awardee is also recognized by making additional high-impact contribution to the district team’s overall performance, has a positive can-do attitude, a willingness to take on additional accountability and has an unwavering commitment to our service fundamentals.”
