“Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century Landscape” was the theme of the 2015 Graduate Research Conference held on November 5 to 7, 2015 at the University of the Philippines Visayas Auditorium, Iloilo City campus.

 Dr. David Hall, Chief of party of the USAID – Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) Program was keynote speaker during the event.

Competing papers in the Natural Sciences and Fisheries Cluster Oral Presentation produced the following winners: "Optimization of Nitrogen Carbon Requirements and Culture Incubation Time for Maximum Poly-B-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) Production by Bacillus spp. JL47 Isolate from Shrimp Pond Sediments" by   Norwell Brian C. Bautista, 1st Place;  "Impact of the  M/T Solar I Oil Spill on the Sea Urchin Tripneustes gratilla Population in the Seagrass Beds of Southern Guimaras, Philippines" by Joshua M. Regal ado, 2nd Place;  and "Odor-Mediated Behavioral Responses  of the Blue Swimming Crab Portunos pelagicus L. instars" by Anne Brigette B.  Ledesma, 3rd Place.

For the Management and Education Cluster Oral Presentation, the winning papers are the following: "Level of participation of Pawa Homeowners Association Members in Building Typhoon-Resilient Community-Driven Shelters" by  Marlon T. Jinon,  1st Place; "Mathematical Creativity on B.S. Applied Mathematics Students" by Claire C. Pedrones, 2nd Place; and  "Perceived Impact of  ASEAN Integration to Career Development of the University of the  Philippines Visayas Graduate Students, 2nd Trimester, AY 2014-2015" by Meliton Sillador, 3rd place.

The winning posters in the Natural Sciences and Fisheries Cluster include: "Utilization of Fish Processing Wastes for Optimized Protease Production from Pseudomonas sp. Isolated  from the Gut of Rebbitfish (Siganus guttatus)" by  Cindy C.  Armada, 1st Place; "Ecology and reproductive  Biology of the Senatorial Scallop Chlamys senatoria (Gmelin 1791) in Gigantes Islands, Carles, Central Philippines" by Laureen M. Manalo, 2nd Place;  and "Influence of salinity and Stocking Density on the Stress Response of Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus Linnaeus, 1758" by Yashier U. Jumah, 3rd Place.

In the Management and Education Cluster, the winning posters are the following:  "Interactive Game for Grade 9 Chemistry Topics and its Effects on the Summative Assessment Scores in Chemistry of Grade 9 Students" by Emily D. Singbenco, 1st Place; "Attitudes Toward Mathematics of Undergraduate Students: An assessment Using ATMS" by Arnie Joy C. Vallejo, 2nd Place; and "3rd Chemistry Laboratory Mini-Kit for Grade 7 Science Instruction" by Kris Baltero – Roxas, 3rd Place.

Dr. Vivian Topor, Director of the Graduate Program Office, was the Chair of the 2015 Graduate Research Conference.
