RAISE W. Visayas holds KMS User Test Training

The Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in Western Visayas, through the University of the Philippines Visayas — Project 15: Regional Knowledge Management (KM) Hub (Phase 2), held the Knowledge Management System (KMS) User Test Training for representatives of consortium member institutions at the Smallville21 Hotel, Iloilo City, on Aug. 24, 2026.

The activity was designed to equip participants with the essential skills to effectively utilize the KMS and enhance research collaboration, intellectual property management, and technology commercialization within the consortium and the region.

RAISE Project 15 invited Mr. Nonie John Sortigosa, IT Consultant, and Mr. Dan Alfrei Fuerte, System Analyst as resource persons. They gave an orientation on the system and discussed its features, purpose, navigation, dashboard, and modules, and provided hands-on training.

According to Dr. Efren Linan, RAISE WV Program Leader, the KMS, which was developed over three years, was designed to support technology information systems, promotion, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement in the agri-aqua sector.

Dr. Linan said the system is more than just a digital platform because “it is intended to connect knowledge with the people who need it, technologies with those who can use them, and innovations with stakeholders who can transform them into real-world solutions.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Rhea Subong-Espina, RAISE Program – Project 15 Leader, said the KMS was developed through a series of trainings conducted through the project.

The system will serve as a portal where technology transfer officers can input the technologies from their respective organizations in Western Visayas.

Prof. Subong-Espina said the KMS has different key components: a repository of technologies and knowledge resources for different institutions in Western Visayas, a tool for collaboration among different institutions, and a platform for intellectual property and innovation promotion.
