UPV CM Batch 1996 gives back through health and gift-giving initiative

The spirit of celebration continued beyond the recently held UPV Alumni Homecoming as the University of the Philippines Visayas College of Management (UPV CM) Batch 1996, Class of 2000/2001, brought the spirit of giving back and service to the UPV community through a one-day outreach and gift-giving initiative.

Held on August 21, 2026, the initiative featured a free chest X-ray screening program conducted in partnership with the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI) – Iloilo Chest Clinic and Dispensary and the Department of Health (DOH). The activity provided accessible screening services to 168 recipients, including UPV employees, alumni and their family members, residents of Brgy. Inday and Brgy. San Felix, as well as those from nearby communities in the City Campus area. The initiative sought to promote early detection of possible health concerns and encourage timely medical assessment and intervention for individuals who may require further evaluation.

Complementing the health initiative was a gift-giving program for UPV’s dedicated support personnel. A total of 64 UPV staff members, including CDMO and janitorial staff and security personnel, received grocery packs containing essential goods and 5 kilograms of rice as a simple expression of gratitude for their invaluable service to the University. The gesture was especially meaningful following the recently concluded Alumni Homecoming, where the staff played an important role in ensuring the smooth conduct of various activities.

The day’s activities were joined by UPV Office of Alumni Relations Director Prof. Lisa Baliao and UPV College of Management Dean Atty. Christopher Honorario, who shared in the meaningful occasion and the spirit of service and gratitude that brought the alumni and the UPV community together.

The activities concluded with a simple fellowship merienda, bringing together the organizers, partners, and members of the UPV community in a warm and meaningful gathering. After a busy but fulfilling day, the fellowship provided an opportunity to pause, reconnect, and celebrate not only the success of the activities but also the shared commitment to giving back.

Beyond the day’s outreach activities, Bluechips Batch ‘96 has also donated ₱1.025 million to the CM Library Learning Commons Legacy Project, further extending the batch’s commitment to the continued development of the College of Management. The contribution represents a lasting investment in the College and in the learning environment of generations of UPV CM students to come.

For Bluechips Batch ‘96, the initiative was more than a post-homecoming activity. It was a meaningful expression of gratitude by turning a celebration of shared memories and friendships into an opportunity to serve, care, and give back to the University and the community that helped shape their journey.
