The UP Visayas Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH) has received a new donation of archaeological and cultural objects from Sibalom, Antique.
Engr. Jonathan G. De Gracia, General Manager of the Sibalom Water District, donated trade ware ceramics and ceramic shards from the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. He also donated a framed mosaic made from semiprecious stones by self-taught Antiqueña artist Analyn Mocorro.
The ceramic pieces were collected from traditional burial sites in the barangays of Nagdayao, Bulalacao, and Maasin in Sibalom.
Sibalom is known for its rich deposits of semi-precious stones, including jasper, jade, amethyst, quartz, agate, and onyx.
Aside from his work as an engineer, De Gracia is also a local historian and geology enthusiast.
The donated objects will soon be available for public viewing at the UPV MACH.
