The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through its Ugnayan ng Pahinungod/Oblation Corps, marked the Alab ng Puso: UP Public Service Day celebration with the four-day Paghanduraw Exhibit, which featured UPV’s most significant and impactful initiatives through the years.
The Paghanduraw Exhibit formally opened after a short program at the Miagao Cultural Hall on June 16, 2026. The exhibit was displayed at the said venue for two days before moving to the UPV New Administration Building in Miagao for two days as well.
According to UPV Pahinungod Director Prof. Jerry Ian Leonida, UPV offices, academic units, and student organizations were asked to revisit their public service history and identify three of their most significant and impactful initiatives.
The exhibit was featured during the livestream of the UP System’s Alab ng Puso: UP Public Service Day 2026 on June 18 — a celebration that coincides with UP’s 188th founding anniversary — in a program that featured live reports of the activities held on that day across UP’s constituent universities.
The materials that were contributed to the Paghanduraw Exhibit focused on education and training, while others highlighted coastal resource management, health promotion, environmental conservation, community development, cultural preservation, volunteerism, and student engagement, among others.
Prof. Leonida said the exhibit also highlights UPV’s partnerships with various sectors “to address real-world concerns and create meaningful change.”
Chancellor Clement Camposano, in his message delivered by Vice Chancellor for Administration Dr. Farisal Bagsit, said, “through the stories, milestones, and collective achievements, the exhibit offers a meaningful opportunity to revisit the many ways UPV has contributed to social transformation, community empowerment, and nation building.”
“Paghanduraw reminds us that public service is not merely a mandate, but a shared responsibility, that connects the university with the people it serves,” he added.
