Dr. Francis Dimzon, a faculty member of the Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), has been appointed as the new Director of the University of the Philippines Visayas Digital Innovation Center (UPV-DIC), effective April 1, 2026.
Dr. Dimzon’s appointment coincides with his role as the Project Development Assistant for Digital Transformation of the University.
He has served key roles as the Systems Administrator of the DPSM’s Computer Laboratory and the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development for Data and Information Systems Program for various periods in the 2000s and 2010s.
He was CAS College Secretary from November 2011 to September 2014.
He has rendered service as a resource person for topics on digital innovation, information technology, and data analytics, among others, for events organized by UPV, UP Open University, and higher education institutions in Western Visayas.
He teaches Computer Science and Mathematics courses as a faculty member of the DPSM.
Dr. Dimzon earned his PhD in Computer Science at De La Salle University in 2023. He finished his MS Computer Science and Diploma in Computer Science at UP Los Baños in 2000 and 1997, respectively. He graduated as cum laude of UPV’s BS Applied Mathematics program in 1994.
