NSTP Program
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law the National Service Training Program (NSTP Act of 2001) on January 23, 2002, otherwise known as Republic Act 9163. It is an act establishing the NSTP for tertiary level students amending for the purpose of RA 7077 and Presidential Decree 1706.
The National Service Training Program aims to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the spirit of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three program components. These components are especially designed to enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general welfare.
All students (male and female) enrolled in any baccalaureate course or in any two-year vocational technical courses in public and private educational institutions are required to complete one of the NSTP components as a requisite for graduation.
