NSTP-CWTS holds T-shirt design, Essay writing, Post-log tilts

CWTS held its annual T-shirt, essay writing and post-log competitions last November 19, 2008 at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Room 108 with the theme: “NSTP-CWTS: Bagong mukha ng Kabayanihan sa Isang Siglong Kasanayan.”

All 20 groups were encouraged to join the various competitions in order to further hone their skills in their unexplored capabilities and if not to rediscover their true talents in drawing, writing and designing.

NSTP-CWTS holistically recognizes the different or unseen talents of students. It is a fertile field upon which raw talent is put into challenge and criticism to be enhanced and be sturdy.

It started at around 9:00 in the morning and ended roughly 4:00 in the afternoon. Winners will be announced on November 22, 2008 (Saturday) at the CFOS AV Hall.

Guidelines for CWTS Special Activities

General Rules:
1. All participants must be a bonafide CWTS student.
2. The following are the SPECIAL ACTIVITIES wherein all teams should participate:

• Essay writing
• Post-log Competition
• Jingle Competition
• Cheers and Yells

3. Teams will earn points for their participation and success for every competition. Below is the Point System

• 30 points - First place
• 25 points - Second place
• 20 points - Third place
• 15 points - Fourth place
• 10 points - Fifth place
• 5 points - Participation

Note: No points will be given to those teams who will not participate.

4. Teams garnering with the top three highest points will be awarded during the Culminating activity.

Specific Guidelines and Criteria

1. Essay writing competition

• Each team should have only one participant for the competition.
• The essay should be based on CWTS’s theme for this academic year.
• The essay should contain a minimum of 300 words and a maximum of 500.
• The competition will be held on the date which will be set by the facilitators.
• Contestants will be given one hour and a half to write their essays.
• Contestants should only use a black ballpen in writing their essays; blue and any other colors will not be accepted.
• The essay should be written in either English or Tagalog.
• The essay should be written in a yellow pad and should be written in double space.

Criteria:

• 40% Content
• 20% Relevance to the theme
• 20% Style and Originality
• 15% Grammar
• 5% Overall Impact
• 100% TOTAL

2. Post-log competition

• Each team should have a pair who will participate in the competition.
• The poster-logo should be based according to CWTS’s theme for AY 2008-2009.
• The competition will be held on: November 19, 2008 (9:00 am to 3:00 pm)
• The facilitators will provide only one fourth (1/4) sized illustration board.
• Participants should bring their own art materials.
• Any medium is allowed except installation and mosaic.
• Participants will be given two hours to make their post-log.
• The decisions of the judges are final and irrevocable.

Criteria:

• 40% Relevance to the theme
• 30% Creativity
• 20% Originality
• 10% Overall Impact
• 100% TOTAL

3. T-shirt Design Contest

• The designs should be submitted in JPEG form, preferably edited in Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3 or CS4.
• It should follow this academic year’s theme.
• Entries should be submitted on or before 4:00 pm in the assigned venue.
• Entries submitted beyond the time will not be credited for judging.

Criteria:

• 40% Relevance to the theme
• 30% Creativity
• 20% Originality
• 10% Overall Impact
• 100% TOTAL
