(Survival tips and reminders for Project Implementation)

November 15, 2008 marks a new and a fresh start for NSTP-CWTS enrollees, one whole semester of fully-packed experiences, five months of different memories to remember and cherish. Project implementation signals the start of CWTS life, the true essence of service through sharing and unselfish sacrifice of time and effort.

Project implementation is another higher step of self-realization, a determinant whether to pursue such commitment in serving the public. It entails a lot of effort and strategy-building, from the fund raising activities to the scheduling of project plans, from the project sponsors to the project benefactors. Project implementation challenges the students to be more schedule-bounded sticking how to manage accurately the time for other subjects and that of their on-going project in the community. Juggling between academics and project implementation is one tough job, every minute matters, relationships are at stake, both within and outside of the group. The more friends you have, the more connections you get, the easier is the task done. One wrong move handicaps the group, leading to complete misunderstanding and unsuccessful projects.

Each project should be done accurately based on the proper time and place with the appropriate number of proponents in the area. Team leaders should be more responsible of the actions of their members and the managing of their time. Project implementation is a tango, which means that it is not only a one-way process wherein the leader directs all the things, rather it is a two-way process wherein the leader and the member interacts to make the project a lot better, and perhaps becoming more effective and efficient.

Standing alone as a group, being firm and sturdy beyond any apprehension and challenges is good because at least you know how to do it all by yourself. Well the ironic part is, not at all times you try to be independent in a rather “lost” way, there are still team managers present and guiding you, and besides there’s our NSTP Coordinator to help further intensify and improve your projects.

Don’t be hesitant to ask for help whenever you are in dire need of it. Everyone is ready to extend their hands, just ask.

Start the semester right. Follow schedules and manage your time, avoid compromises. At the end of the day, you’ll find it fulfilling that you’ve done your part and others benefited from it. And always remember to, ENJOY.
