CFOS graduate students to participate in exchange study program in Japan
Three graduate students of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas is set to travel to Japan next month to participate in a 40-day exchange study program from August 18 to September 28, 2017 at Kagoshima University (KU).
Jessie O. Jimenez, Fedelia Flor C. Mero, and Jean Rose H. Maquirang, all first year Master of Science in Fisheries (Aquaculture) students of the CFOS were invited by Koshio Shunsuke, Dean of Faculty of Fisheries, Kagoshima University to take part in the student exchange program between the two Universities.
The students will participate in the research training under the Summer Session for Postgraduate (Master) Programme on Tropical Fisheries through the International Linkage Program (ILP). Their travel will be sponsored by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
UPV, through CFOS, is the sole member-school from the Philippines in the ILP that started in 2015. Other than KU and UPV, the ILP is also joined by Kasetsart University (Thailand), Nha Trang University (Vietnam), Sam Ratulangi University (Indonesia), and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (Malaysia).
Meanwhile, UPV has been conducting an “Advanced Lecture on Tropical Fisheries” for the Masters of Science Fisheries students of Faculty of Fisheries, Kagoshima University for 11 years already. The latest was held on July 3-13, 2017.
